Dr. John Joe - CEO - Vigor

Dr. John Joe has been an academic physician, healthcare executive, and serial MedTech entrepreneur for the past two decades. He co-founded Vigor and raised all its seed capital. He previously founded and led two digital health companies, one which produced the first cloud‐based hospital information system to receive federal certification in the USA (CCHIT 2007) and another which produced one of the first internet-based mobile patient management systems in the USA. The former was acquired by a Boston private equity firm and the latter was acquired by Surescripts with the core technology now used by more than 200,000 physicians across the USA.

He previously served as (1) chief medical information officer of a regional health system with seven hospitals, USD 100M+ capital, and USD 50M+ operating budgets; (2) founding executive director of the regional health information network for the 4 the largest metropolitan area in the USA with 40+ hospitals and 11,000+ physicians; (3) medical director for adult and pediatric health systems encompassing primary to tertiary care as well as public health and quality research; (4) senior advisor and software vendor to the NASA astronaut health and human research programs; and (5) senior consultant for more than 50 government and private health systems globally.

John is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, an elected life member of the Society of NASA Flight Surgeons, and an adjunct professor of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Texas Health Science Center and of Family Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.
